"If you can imagine it, you can
achieve it
If you can dream it, you can become it." WILLIAM ARTHUR WARD
Poster Girl is a true patriot. February 12th, 2007
A few months ago I heard the song "Poster Girl" played on ABC
Breakfast Radio here in Perth. I felt a great sense of pride at being an
Aussie even though I think we shouldn't be part of the conflict in the
middle east.
So impressed with the song, I went to a local music megastore and purchased
the album... the singer songwriter wasBeccy
Cole.
"Poster Girl" was written when Beccy returned from
entertaining the troops in the Middle East over the Christmas and New Year
period and found a letter from a fan who didn't agree with Australia's
participation in the war. Beccy has previously commented . "I have a
huge amount of respect for our forces and I'm very proud of the great job
they are doing over there. Our job was to provide an entertaining break from
their gruelling routine and from all reports, we succeeded. I'm happy to
report that morale is high amongst the Aussies and if their hard work and
commitment is anything to go by, peace in the Middle East is achievable"
In our first Maverick Spirit YouTube Video experience, you can watch
and listen to "Poster Girl."
The "Poster Girl" video clip was filmed at the historic Army Barracks
in Paddington and produced by award winning clip maker, Ross Wood.
Beccy has been on the road for the past year working hard performing songs
from "Feel This Free" with some additional concerts where she joins forces
with Adam Harvey for their rollicking "How Wrong Is It" gigs around the
country.
Beccy recently delivered a sizzling performance at this years APRA Awards
where she sang the first #1 single from the album, "Rainbows, Dreams and
Butterflies", which was nominated in the Final 5 country songs for the year.
She has just spent several weeks locked away writing songs for her new album
which is due for release early in the New Year.
Beccy is currently an ambassador for this year's Jamm for Genes, a
cause which she is delighted to be promoting. As a parent, multi-Golden
Guitar award-winning country artist, Beccy Cole, feels a personal connection
with the cause. Last month she attended a Discovery Day at the CMRI at
Sydney’s Westmead Hospital, where scientists shared their amazing research
innovations with a group of music industry professionals and gave guided
tours of the Institute's laboratories and facilities.
"I am blessed with a healthy seven year-old boy and I can only imagine what
a parent might go through when faced with a sick child," Beccy says.
"Being invited to the Children's Medical Research Institute opened my eyes
to the incredible work being done in the treatment and prevention of genetic
disease. I met amazing scientists who have dedicated their lives to finding
reasons and cures that could ultimately improve and save the lives of
children everywhere, and they LOVE their work!
"As musicians, we are often asked to give our time to various charities to
raise funds, not always knowing exactly how the money raised might help. I
can say now that I've seen genetic research in motion. I'll be singing the
praises of Jeans for Genes and I know who deserves the applause."

P.S. Did you
know that there is a very basic difference between pasta and noodles? Noodles
are mostly made from bread wheat and are eaten something like a soup where as
pasta is mostly made from durm flour and is usually eaten is dishes
containing limited water.
P.P.S. China makes over 100 million tonnes of noodles each year - that's
bringing a new meaning to "using your noodle."
Decide to get up thirty minutes earlier. Do this for a year, and you will add
seven and one-half days to your waking world.
Watch for big problems. They disguise big opportunities.
Don't make the same mistake twice.
