It's always too soon to quit!            July 6th, 2007

So you feel beaten up and bruised and you are ready to quit. You have no support system or the one you have is pathetically inadequate for the goals you have set. You are so tired that the couch is looking more and more inviting everyday. You have bills piling up and you probably ought to get a real job anyway. The failure rate is statistically high and nobody is going to fault you if you quit. Who really cares if you give up and quit now? You do.

Fall down seven times, get up eight times.
Japanese Proverb

Late last year, just after the press reported my troubles with the Government about the sending of emails, and the imposing of $5.5 million in fines on my business and myself, one of my readers wrote in and said:

“Now Wayne we will really see what you are made of!”

So, for the last three years I have been waging a battle against those who would see me fail. A battle against those who see that anyone who challenges the system deserves to be crushed. A battle that sometimes seems unwinnable. Yet every time it seems like the battle has been conceded, someone or something comes into my world and gives me a hand.

On the same day just 5 weeks ago that I received a 50 cm thick book called "Taxing of Costs" of what the Government was claiming that they had spent to bring their court case against me – sorry what they had spent of your money – I received a brilliant 5cm thin book from two of the people who say I have in some way or some how inspired them. The Governments book claimed costs of $518,000 for running their case against me and was meant to crush me.

My 5cm thin book, called i am gr8ful for life was sent to inspire me. I choose to be inspired by that book – thanks to Kim Serafini and Mel Boulton for sending it.

Sometimes I wish I could give you a magic solution as to how to find helpful people when you are working on your goals and dreams but the truth is, most people are too busy with their own lives to be able to offer much assistance anyway. It is a rare and beautiful thing when the perfect person comes along with nothing better to do then to roll up their sleeves and help. It is a tough reality, but basically, it is your goal, your dream, and your job to make it happen.

Most people give up when they're about to achieve success.
They quit on the one-yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game,
one foot from a winning touchdown.
H Ross Perot

I am have been lucky with the number of people who continue to support me in my quest to make a difference and I am inspired by words and deeds of those who know that you are not beaten until you fail to get up.

My solution for all the barriers that seem to have been put in my way is to dream a bigger dream.

Funny thing about the really big powerful dreams, they haunt us. Every time you turn around, there it is following you around reminding you that you have not finished it yet. It will keep showing up in everything you do and especially in the things that you do not do. If it really matters, if it is your calling, if it is your life’s work, then it is not going to let you give up.

It is easy to quit where so many others have already gone and failed before you. Survival of the fittest dictates that not everyone is ideally designed to accomplish all goals. Not everyone is supposed to be an entrepreneur. Not everyone is meant to be a musician. Not everyone is meant to be the prime minister. The truth is, if you have picked a goal that is suited to your own natural talents and gifts and if it is infused with your own passion and fire, then chances are that you are one of the lucky few who is meant to live that dream.

History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually
encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed.
They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.
B. C. Forbes

Just because everyone else failed does not mean that you are meant to fail too. Statistics do not mean anything unless you decide to become one.

You are either going to quit or you are going to find inspiration and keep going. You can quit if you want, but you already know if quitting will feel worse then trudging through a little while longer. Somewhere you know deep down that you are meant to succeed. Don’t quit just yet.

P.S.  When Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen completed the first Chicken Soup for the Soul book, it was turned down by thirty-three publishers in New York and another ninety at the American Booksellers Association convention in Anaheim, California, before Health Communications, Inc., finally agreed to publish it.

Ah the major New York publishers said, "It is too nicey-nice" and "Nobody wants to read a book of short little stories." Since that time more than 8 million copies of the original Chicken Soup for the Soul book have been sold. The series, which has grown to fifty-two titles, in thirty-one languages, has sold more than 93 million copies.

P.P.S.  Did you know that schooling is no indicator of success in a future career. Malcolm Forbes, the late editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine, one of the most successful business publications in the world, failed to make the staff of the school newspaper when he was an undergraduate at Princeton University.

Don't expect bankers to come to your aid in a crunch. Trust in God, but lock your car.

Never say anything uncomplimentary about your wife or children in the presence of others.

When you're uncertain of what you should pay someone, ask, "What do you think is fair?" You'll almost always get a reasonable answer.

MAVERICK QUOTE OF THE DAY

"I am interested only in stretching myself,
on living as fully as I can."

Doris Lessing

Samuel Maverick (1803-70) Texan rancher who, when branding of stock was introduced chose "Not to Brand." Every unbranded horse or cow he then claimed as a Maverick!

Feedback:   There must be a few health conscious people out there because my comments on foul tasting medicine drew a spirited response. Here area coupe of comments from fellow Maverick Spiriters.. I hope today's words of encouragement, wisdom and resolve help you go forward. ( and there must be a more than a few direct salespeople amongst you too! )

Hi Wayne,

Yes Listerine is foul stuff. I know a guy with a particular throat condition wherein he needed to gargle regularly (after every meal). Listerine destroyed his throat - ulcerated it because of all the toxic chemicals. Some mouth washes also contain neat alcohol which is also very rough on the throat in combination with those toxic chemicals.

There are safe alternatives - as you know I am a Neways distributor. We have a safe mouthwash that doesn't taste foul and won't rip your throat out. Like you, I'm interested in preserving my health. Supplementation is absolutely essential as is good diet (what 's good for you that is) and exercise, plenty of fresh water and sleep. Icing on the cake is ridding yourself of toxins such as those in all sorts of bathroom products especially in toothpaste (have a look at what's in there - very scary stuff - items are on the box which people throw away - advertisers are too clever to leave this info lying around on the tube where you might actually read it). When you've got nothing better to do, look through some of this stuff on the supermarket shelves.

Moral of the story? Being good for you doesn't have to taste totally disgusting, nor does it have to rip the lining off your throat, your skin or irritate your eyes. Keep up the health effort. Some of us want to be around a long time.

PS - Did you know the first warning people have that something's wrong with their heart is their first heart attack, often fatal?

The day I got my tonsils out in 1966 (when I was 6 years old), every other child that had their tonsils removed on that particular day in that particular operating theatre contracted Scarlet Fever.

Just remembered that.

HULLO WAYNE..
GOOD TO HAVE the Maverick spirit back. Thank you.?

Reading your complaints about "medicines" to make you well have you ever tried Himalayan Goji Juice. It tastes delicious and takes care of all the other 'stuff' you are swallowing.

It is however a fruit juice and we do not make any medical claims.

It does improve your cellular health which in turn takes care of everything else. I know there has been a lot of hype recently in the press about Goji Juice and not all of it favourable. However we are talking about the real stuff here - not the locally produced imitations.

Just as you have wine and wine so you have Goji and Goji. Himalayan Goji Juice has the world patent on both its presentation bottle and its formula.? Give it a try. Check it out. If this appeals, please let us know and we will let you have some more info.

Archie

Hi Wayne,

On the subject of health and our society's willingness to leave decisions regarding health up to... well anyone who seems to know more than they... I have found the answer!

This is a plug for a product (more a piece of information) that has changed my life and given me the mindset to be totally responsible for my own health and wellbeing. If I become unwell (cold, flu, cancer - whatever!) I will know exactly why and what to do about it. I haven't had so much as a cough in two years since listening and am now convinced I'll easily see my 100th B'Day (in 70 years).

People may laugh and scoff when they hear the name but I assure you that Anthony Robbins lecture named 'Living Health' (nothing resembling motivational) is a must for every person - and you Wayne would have not written this weeks article had you listened prior

I can't force anyone to listen... but it presents a fork in the road; a very large fork and one where there is no question which path to take.

Mark

And apparently my spell checker went awol on Wednesday...

Hi Wayne,

I always love getting your Maverick Spirit newsletter. You always have interesting tidbits and stories. Thanks for making the effort!

On a quick sidenote, this last Maverick Spirit was overflowing with hideous typos. I suspect you were in a mega rush or forgot to proof-read it before clicking "send". This is an abbheration, not the norm, but can I encourage you to maintain your usual high typographic standards - I baulked at forwarding this on to a friend 'coz with 6+ major spelling errors, it looks terribly unprofessional.

Thanks again for the ongoing encouragements through your excellent newsletter!

Jonathan
