"If you can imagine it, you can achieve it
If you can dream it, you can become it."   WILLIAM ARTHUR WARD

Just because you couldn't yesterday....                  August 31st, 2007

In this mornings post was a special gift - a book - BLISS by Michelle Allsop. There is an intriguing subtitle "Babe Listen, I should've stayed Single.. But I didn't... So now what?"

And on the back cover the description of what's inside reads:

" Relationships do not come with an instruction manual. BLISS addresses some of the issues that arise when relationships stagnate, or even go sour.

Now, although reading The Maverick Spirit you wouldn't know it, most of my friends know I protest that I am not into "touchy feely stuff", Michelle has done a great job of collecting a range of writings on how to move forward in your life.

And one article that caught my eye was called Focus. I think it should have been called "Just Because..." and that's the feature story of this issue of The Maverick Spirit.

Focus

Your focus becomes your reality.

This includes everything you are, everything that you have, and the way people treat you. Can you believe that all the Good and all the Bad which is in your life now is there because you are using the power of your mind to create it?

All those things that you Do and Don't want are there because you have subconsciously chosen them!!

But the moment you choose to stop accepting this way of life, to stop thinking about these negatives in your life; to stop giving power to them and to stop giving away control to what you don't want, this is the instant you start to move towards what you DO want.

It is that simple and now you know it, use it.

Just because you couldn't do it yesterday, doesn't mean you can't do it today.
Just because it didn't work last time, doesn't mean it won't work this time.
Just because you are scared, doesn't mean you don't have the courage to make it happen. Just because you might have failed time and time again, doesn't mean success isn't just over the next hill.
Just because you don't know every step in advance that you must take, doesn't mean you can't get started towards your dreams, right now.
Just because you might feel alone right now, doesn't mean you won't find the help and the friends and the tools to make it happen.
Just because you feel like you'll never get it all figured out on your own, doesn't mean the answers won't come, when you are ready for the next step....

Just because.

P.S.  Did you know that 99% of Australian homes have an Arnott's product in the pantry?? And that Tim Tams were named after the horse who won the 1958 Kentucky Derby. As Australia's favourite chocolate biscuit, we buy 30 million packs a year. That's over 300 Tim Tams!

P.P.S.  You have probably seen those fiddly little Vegemite packs they serve you in hotels. Strangely they have too much Vegemite in them for us Aussies but when an unsuspecting American tourist uses it all, they just don't appreciate Vegemite. Did you know that during WW11 Vegemite came in three sizes; seven pound tins ( about 3 kilos ) for the platoon, eight ounce tins for soldiers on the go, and half once sizes for behind enemy lines.

When buying something that you only need to buy once, buy the best you can afford.

You may dress unconventionally, but remember, the more strangely you dress the better you have to be.

Always buy raffle tickets, candy bars, and baked goods from students who are raising money for school projects.

MAVERICK QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Do the hardest thing on
earth for you. Act for yourself.
Face the truth."

Katherine Mansfield

Samuel Maverick (1803-70) Texan rancher who, when branding of stock was introduced chose "Not to Brand." Every unbranded horse or cow he then claimed as a Maverick!

Feedback:   There has been a flood of comments and feedback over the last week. Thanks again for sharing - it lifts my spirits to think that you get pleasure reading the Spirit.

Here is a sample of the feedback...

On "Remembering when...

Hi Wayne

ah yes, reminiscences - this is a new lot - I haven't read these before. They are nonetheless so true - I remember doing just those sorts of things. What I feel sad about is that my daughter - and most kids- will never know the fun of walking up the shops as we did with my grandmother's jeep and all my cousins to do the shopping - probably over 3km round trip. Never a worry about crossing main roads, railway tracks, or getting abducted by some creep. And being allowed to spend the change on lollies - ah yes. Or shelling fresh almonds and walnuts picked straight off my grandmother's abundant fruit trees in her backyard and stuffing our faces with them til we were ill.

Wow, the list could go on forever. Great memories

On "There is always a way..."

Thanks Wayne…
needed that message this morning!!

And some wise words from my friend Pat in New Zealand:

Thank you very much, I will have something to you in the morning.

My mentor Matt said: "If I gave you 100 seeds would you plant them all?"

I said yes. I am 54!

He also said; "Stop dropping pebbles.. they only create a ripple. Drop rocks!!
T
Haaa…!!! I liked that

Pat
