"If you can imagine it, you can achieve it
If you can dream it, you can become it."   WILLIAM ARTHUR WARD

A True Blue Tribute to Steve Irwin                September 7th,  2006

John Williamson, Steve Irwin and Warren H. Williams Australia Day 2006

It doesn't get more Australian than Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo – until you throw True Blue singer John Williamson in with the crocs as well. Elizabeth Innes  from the local newspaper Sunshine Coast Weekender

“Hey true blue, is it me and you? Is it mum and dad? Is it a cockatoo?”

Whatever else there is, there's no question that John Williamson playing a concert at Australia Zoo on Australia Day is as true blue as you could hope to find. Yes, the man who's brought us Rip Rip Woodchip, Old Man Emu, Mallee Boy and Cootamunda Wattle came to the Coast to play his all-Australian tunes in Steve Irwin's backyard.

Two national icons came together to make it an unforgettable Australia Day right here on the Coast with Australia 's most amazing creatures as their backdrop. You can try to hold back the goosebumps but when you hear True Blue live from the man himself on Australia Day, it is be all but impossible.

Hey True Blue
by John Williamson

Hey True Blue, don't say you've gone
Say you've knocked off for a smoko
And you'll be back later on
Hey True Blue, Hey True Blue

Give it to me straight
Face to face
Are you really disappearing,
Just another dying race,
Hey True Blue.

True Blue, is it me and you?
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a cockatoo?
Is it standing by your mate
When he's in a fight?
Or will she be right?
True Blue, I'm asking you...

Hey True Blue, can you bear the load?
Will you tie it up with wire,
Just to keep the show on the road?
Hey True Blue, Hey True Blue, now be Fair Dinkum

Is your heart still there?
If they sell us out like sponge cake
Do you really care?
Hey True Blue.

True Blue, is it me and you?
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a cockatoo?
Is it standing by your mate
When she's in a fight?
Or will she be right?
True Blue, I'm asking you...

True Blue, is it me and you?
Is it Mum and Dad, is it a cockatoo?
Is it standing by your mate
When he's in a fight?
Or will she be right?
True Blue ... True Blue.

May the memory of
Steve Irwin

live on...

think of him
 each time you hear
John Williamson's

True Blue.

P.S. Did you know that since the 16th century there have been 1,969 attacks by sharks on people. The most likely place where you will be attacked by a shark is the USA where 761 attacks have been recorded and there have been 39 deaths recorded. However, second on the list for shark attacks is Australia where there have been 294 recorded attacks. Our sharks must be hungrier because we have recorded 134 fatalities which is at a rate of 7 times that of the USA.

P.P.S. What could be further away from sharks than pigs. The distribution of the world's pig population is determined by cultural, religious, and dietary factors which means that countries that have no prohibitions have a disproportionate number of pigs. Of the estimated 900 million pigs in the world China is the home for nearly 500 million.

Life's Little Instruction Book

Don't burn bridges. You'll be surprised how many times you have to cross the same river.

Don't say you don't enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.

MAVERICK QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Tell me and I forget.
Teach me and I remember.
Involve me and I learn."

Benjamin Franklin

Samuel Maverick (1803-70) Texan rancher who, when branding of stock was introduced chose "Not to Brand." Every unbranded horse or cow he then claimed as a Maverick!

Feedback:   I have selected a couple of words for today... and I hope to hear from you soon with your words of encouragement, wisdom and resolve.

And that song...

Hi Wayne,

In response to Roseanne Johnson's feedback:

"I thought of the words of a song I heard on the radio yesterday which are very very true... (didn't catch the song name or the singer)

"Don't be afraid of what you cannot see, the fear is the possibility"

The song is called “Opportunity” and it’s by Pete Murray:

Just thought you might be interested.

Cheers,

Skye

And also I received this note from Christine Spiers of Golfers Plus:

The song Roseanne was talking about is attached. I thought you may be interested in the rest of the lyrics. It’s by Pete Murray and is very inspirational.

I’ve printed it out and stuck it up to remind myself to take all the opportunities I can and live life to the full.

Opportunity

And so it goes another lonely day
Your savin time but your miles away
Your fly was drownin in some bitter tea
For seeing lost opportunity

Editor: for the full song I have posted at my blog http://www.waynemansfield.com and also as a pdf download in Free Stuff.
