"If we are to achieve results never before accomplished,
we must expect to employ methods never before attempted"   FRANCIS BACON

Tough Times... I seem to have written that once or twice before!   May 26th  2006

You will notice a few changes to The Spirit... new name, new home, and new resolve but the same positive message - you can achieve whatever you set your heart to.

Over the last months we have regularly "lost the website of The Spirit" due to the subversive action of the anti spam nazis... people who believe that they have an absolute right to decide how the internet is used. Because I have challenged that right, they believe that I shouldn't be allowed to bring you the wisdom of The Spirit.

Along with the Government enforcing laws drafted by these bullies and wanting to fine me more than $11 million - true - it has been a trying time in the last 12 months. So, I thought I would write about persistence and how the man with the best Plan B ultimately triumphs.

Here is what Charles Lindberg of aviation fame said:

Success is not measured by what a person accomplishes,
but by the opposition they have encountered,
and by the courage with which they have maintained
the struggle against overwhelming odds"

And I found some inspiration in the words of James Allen who wrote so many years ago As A Man Thinkth:

"The human will, that force unseen,
The offspring of a deathless soul,
Can hew a way to any goal,
Though walls of granite intervene.
Be not impatient in delay,
But wait as one who understands;
When spirit rises and commands,
The gods are ready to obey."

So, against the odds, I commit to continue to bring you The Spirit and have even retitled it: The Rare Spirit in recognition of the effort other are going to to stop you getting it. When your regular words of inspiration, and encouragement disappear for a short while, be confident that I will make every effort to "be back!"

And some words of wisdom on persistence...

"Never, never, never, never give up"
Winston Churchill

"The majority of people meet with failure
because of their lack of persistence in
creating new plans to take the place of those which fail"
Napoleon Hill

What is persistence?

It is the power to hold on in spite of everything, to endure--this is the winner's quality. Persistence is the ability to face defeat again and again without giving up--to push on in the face of great difficulty. Persistence means taking pains to overcome every obstacle, to do all that's necessary to reach you goals. To go on resolutely, in spite of difficulties... endurance.

Having a fixed purpose, free from doubt or wavering. Firm in adherence to whatever one is bound to by duty or promise. Stubborn - unyielding - never giving up - never surrendering - willing to die for - never yielding to physical force, even when tortured - would rather die than betray or give up information.

Refusing to relent. To be steadfast in purpose. To prevail, endure, remain, last.

How would you like to see a permanent end to all of your problems?

We all have problems – and our problems only end - when we do. The only people without problems are in the cemetery.

I’d like to stick around – problems and all. How about you?

P.S. Did you know that the first cat to circumnavigate Australia was called Trim and there is a statue of him on a window ledge outside the State Library of NSW. Apparently Trim met his death, eaten by hungry slaves in Mauritius whilst his master, Matthew Flinders spent 6 years in a French jail on the island.

P.P.S. As you probably all know,  the author of Mary Poppins was an Aussie! P. L Travers was born Helen Lyndon Goff in Maryborough Queensland in 1899. Pamela lived in Britain from 1924 to her death in 1996.

the real meaning of life

I've been to the top of the pile, sank to the deepest depths, and seen every point in between. What keeps me hanging on? Morbid curiosity about what will come next. Life is an experience, and there's always something more, good or bad. The trick is learning to love both with equal reverence...  E. James Jacobson

MAVERICK QUOTE OF THE DAY

"If you work just for the money, you'll never make it, but if you love what you're doing and you always put the customer first, success will be yours."

Ray Kroc

Samuel Maverick (1803-70) Texan rancher who, when branding of stock was introduced chose "Not to Brand." Every unbranded horse or cow he then claimed as a Maverick!

Feedback:   I have selected a couple of words for today... and I hope to hear from you soon with your words of encouragement, wisdom and resolve.

Hi Wayne

Glad to note you're still alive and kicking.

Don't lose your dream or you'll lose your steam.

Have a great week

HI Wayne,
Thank you very much for the invite to Success Leaves Clues but I will be in Townsville promoting my product.

It is most gratifying when clients write back to me of fuel savings of 2litres saved each 100klms they drive. I at least know I am doing something positive in helping motorists in this ever increasing fuel price rises, and I feel good about it.

Hi Wayne,

Very much enjoyed catch-up and coffee on your turf.

I always appreciate your ee's. It's been a long and tough day today. It's late and everyone's safe and tucked up in bed .

This email was just perfect for now, for me, a good top-up,
thankyou.

Peter
