Earlier
today, within 30 minutes of each other, two friends who have offered great
support to me over the last year or so rang and related situations that
re-inforced my belief that good things take time, yet bad things happen in
an instant.
In one case, shortness of breath had lead to a heart procedure which
hopefully will be life saving... none the less a giant wake up call. And in
the other, external influences threaten a life time of work. And my input
will be an understanding ear as we share a merlot.
So, it is with particular relevance that this piece by Denis Waitley
is shared with you all:
Look Inside
When the prize seems high above you
And your mirror doesn't love you
Look inside
When the road to gold gets steeper
And your diamond's buried deeper
Look inside
Light a candle in your mind
Untold riches you will find
When you look for treasures
Look inside
When you're running low on laughter
And can't reach the goals you're after
Look inside
When your body starts complaining
And the clouds of doubt keep raining
Look inside
Close your eyes and then believe it
Trust yourself and you'll achieve it
When you're seeking answers
Look inside

P.S. Did you
ever wonder when the word "wowser" was first used... probably not
but I am going to let you know know anyway. It was used by John Norton
who was editors of The Sydney Truth and he used it to describe a fellow
Sydney City Councillor Alderman Waterhouse who he called: 'white, woolly,
weary, watery, word-wasting wowser from Waverley.'
P.P.S. Talking about significant firsts, the first KFC was
in Guildford in 1968, the first Pizza Hut was in Belfield in
1970, and the first McDonalds was in Yagoona in 1971. We had a
rest from the invasion of American fast food giants until the first
Starbucks opened in Sydney in 2000 and for those sugar addicts
Krispy Kreme arrived in Penrith in 2003. Strange all were started in
NSW.
And
for something really different:

Life's Little Instruction Book
When starting out, don't worry about not having enough money. Limited funds are
a blessing, not a curse. Nothing encourages creative thinking in quite the same
way.

Feedback: I have selected a couple of words for today...
and I hope to hear from you soon with your words of encouragement, wisdom and
resolve.
Of the Two Tenors.. whether it is an urban myth or not:
Wow!! what a story... who would ever have known... but even more so.....to
be on stage and ask for "forgiveness" is even more astounding in these day and
age.
Jude
From the Desert Mums:
Wayne,
Thank you so much for your support of The Desert Mums. Together we have raised
over $120,000 for breast cancer research and hopefully inspired ‘breast
awareness’. Thank you for your donation, editorial support, belief and
willingness to be a part in something pretty incredible.
Best wishes and much love

From a long time supporter who missed the name change:
Wayne
I found Rare Spirit by accident, so I confess, I was not aware of the change of
name. When did that happen ? I have been very much pre-occupied with a great old
friend who is now slowly slipping in to Dementia. Comes from the UK and has no
relatives here and few friends.
Yet he held down a vital job until his retirement which was quite a few years
ago as he is now 81. At the time when Mail Centres around the country were
almost all suffering Union Troubles as a result of the introduction of
mechanical sorting equipment, this man travelled around the country training all
the staff at each Centre and was always appreciated and suitably thanked at each
and every one of them - yet he remains virtually unknown.
He should have received a gong but was always very modest.
"They also serve who only stand and wait" where did that quotation come from ?
Keep it up
Jack
Of Soccer and The World Cup
We can learn a vital lesson from the Socceroos. Life can be pretty unfair and
sometimes you get penalized for something you didn't do. But we need to roll
with the punches. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going! We must learn
to respond, not react. Don't allow disappointments to make you bitter; work
through them to become even better next time.
